Holy Thursday

April 17th, 6:30

Holy Thursday marks the Thursday before Easter, and it’s a time to remember the Last Supper, the final meal Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion.  The service will include communion, the stripping of the Sanctuary and a tenebrea.  Tenebrae is the Latin word “darkness.  The tenebrea is a a gradual extinguishing of candles to total darkness.

“Experiencing the solemnity of Holy Thursday deepens our understanding of the sacrifice Christ made for us. Walking through the Last Supper, the stripping of the sanctuary, and the darkness of Tenebrae allows us to feel the weight of Good Friday, making the joy of Easter morning even more profound. Join us for this meaningful service as we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.”

Lent: A Season of Reflection and Renewal

Lent is a sacred season in the Christian year; a time when believers focus on simple living, prayer, and fasting to grow closer to God. It is a period of spiritual discipline, marked by repentance, moderation, and self-examination, as we prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of this journey. Many Christians take this time to make resolutions and commit to meaningful changes, striving to reflect Christ more fully in their lives over the next forty days.

As we embark on this Lenten journey together, we invite you to join us for our Ash Wednesday Worship Service on March 5th at 6:30 p.m.

This link takes you to “The Sanctuary for Lent 2025” devotional! Each day includes a suggested Scripture, a brief reflection, and a prayer or practice based on the Revised Common Lectionary, guiding you from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday.

May this season be one of renewal and deepened faith.
